Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a common main ingredient in your dish soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, hand soap, and shaving cream. SLS is a foaming agent, and a very cheap and effective one. The problem, however, is that SLS has been shown to be very toxic to the body, and can even promote the growth of cancer. According to a study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, SLS may have immunosuppressive and tumor promoting activity, which means that it can decrease your body's ability to fight cancer while at the same time promoting that cancer's growth. SLS is one example of an everyday product that can interfere with your body's ability to heal. Learn about more everyday toxins and how to remove this interference at our April Maximized Living Makeover, focused on toxicity.
